There are 14 intermediate courts of appeal in Texas. The 14th Court of Appeals hears appeals from trial courts in ten counties: Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Harris, Waller, and Washington. For the vast majority of the litigants who appeal their cases, the ruling from the intermediate court of appeals is the final ruling in their case.
